What's all the buzz about the beat?

The new CD has been getting a lot of love from the press.  We have just moved up to #12 in the CMJ World Music charts.  Please call your local radio station and request them to play our new CD.  And if they don't have it write to us and let us know so we can send your local radio station a copy of Growing Stone.

Growing Stone was voted one of the top 10 albums in 2011 by the Village Voice. Click here.

American and Brazilian musicians have been finding common ground ever since jazz artists turned to bossa nova 50 years ago. But the result has never sounded quite like this. Listen to the Banning Eyre review on NPR right here.   (August, 2008)

"The resulting sound is creative and flawless, a new multi-cultural energy that sounds like it had been bottled up and ready to explode for ages. Luckily, Nation Beat has finally popped the cork on this perfect combination.....Nation Beat's cross-pollination of music is nothing short of groundbreaking." - Liz Pelly, CMJ (8/6/08)

We just got back from a killer tour to LA and New Mexico.  Our LA show didn't get off to a great start...when we arrived for soundcheck there was no backline (no drums or guitar amps).  Basically it would have been impossible to play our show and we only had 2 hrs before we were supposed to start.  Luckily the festival organizers made some phone calls and got everything we needed just in time to start at 7pm.  We were tired from traveling all day from NYC and then having to deal with this...BUT....the audience at Levitt Pavilion was so amazing they just sent us soaring high through our entire set.  Thanks so much to everyone who came out to Levitt to see us.

Then we headed to New Mexico to play at a Casino and in Santa Fe.  Luckily our manager Tom Frouge lives there with his wife and they gave us a nice home cooked meal and showed us around some Indian reservations and historical sites.  Our Sante Fe gig was off the hook!!!  Wow...Santa Fe is an amazing town and was a great way to end a tour.  Thanks to David for having us!

Now....back to getting the CD ready to release!!

Thanks for checking out our new site...we hope you enjoy the song of the week and enjoy browsing around.
